You must carry out the following steps to correctly adapt your company's own formatting:
- Correctly prepare the Word file that is to be stored as letterhead. Prepare the Word format templates and set text anchors.
- Upload the Word file and save it as a layout.
- Map the Word template (this article).
- Link the letterhead to your smart template.
In order for your automated template from LAWLIFT to recognise how the respective elements are to be formatted in Word, you must map your in-house layout. The "Mapping" link ensures that all elements are correctly linked to the format templates from Word.
To map your in-house layout, click on LAYOUTS in the dashboard (only visible to admins) and go to ADVANCED. Now upload the Word file using the UPLOAD NEW STYLES TEMPLATE button.
Now move the cursor over the name of the layout you have just uploaded and click on the EDIT button.

A new window will now open, now click on MAPPING.
Here you can carry out the mapping, i.e. link your format templates with the respective layers in LAWLIFT.
On the left side, all available LAWLIFT elements and levels (headings, paragraphs, numbered lists, bullet points - each with the different levels) are displayed. For each LAWLIFT text element, you can make a mapping in the dropdown on the right-hand side. The dropdown list displays only the format templates that exist in the respective letter header (that is, the format styles that you previously stored in Word). Click the arrow to open the dropdown. Now select the appropriate format template for the respective LAWLIFT text element at the correct level.
For Heading Level 1, select the style that is to be applied to the Heading Level 1 without numbering (in the example: Heading 1). Proceed in this way for all elements that you want to store in your letterhead template.

You have the possibility to import mappings from other letterheads. To do so, click on "Import mapping from other letterhead" and select the respective letterhead with the appropriate mapping in the newly displayed dropdown.
