Performance Tips for your Template

The performance of your template can suffer from various aspects. Read here how you can avoid these mistakes or improve the performance of your template.

Interview

Think about a system according to which you structure the sections.

For easy comprehension and a good overview, we recommend structuring by headings and preliminary questions.

Form about 6-10 questions per section.

A short and concise list of questions is essential for a user-friendly template. If there are too many questions, mistakes are more likely to creep in and the pleasure of using the template is reduced.

When automating, bear in mind that not every individual case necessarily has to be automated.

Serial

Excessive use of serial questions can lead to performance losses, so use them selectively where you do not know if a large number of repetitive elements are to be expected. Otherwise, we recommend using the selection question, which allows the template builder to specify the number of repetitions.

Commands

Excessive use of ::default commands on responses can lead to performance degradation. We, therefore, recommend that you set default answers specifically on important answers that are to be used to control the default setting of the interview.

Rules

Excessive use of negative rules can lead to performance losses. Our recommendation is to check whether the negative rules are not already covered by a positive rule as well.

Multi-document workflow

Excessive use of tabs within a template can lead to performance losses. We, therefore, recommend the following considerations:

When constructing the template, consider whether all tabs really belong in one template or whether it makes more sense to create several smaller templates.

Does the template form a good basis for automation or are too many smaller individual cases included?

If the interview becomes extremely long with the use of various tabs, the template may lose its user-friendliness.
