If you include a SERIAL question in the questionnaire, you must serialize the elements of your template that you want to appear as many times as determined through answering the serial question.
Linking these elements to the respective serial question follows the same logic as setting rules:
Click on the element you want to link to your serial question. Then, instead of clicking on RULES, you click on the three grey dots appearing right next to the element. Then you click the SERIAL button. The serial questions that can be linked with this element are now highlighted in purple. Click on a serial question and the link is complete.
To delete the serial, click on the three turquoise dots to the right of the serialized element, then on SERIAL. The linked serial question is now displayed in red. Click on this question to delete the rule.
Info
When an element has been successfully linked to a serial question, the three grey dots next to the element appear in turquoise when you click on the element.
Tip
To number the repetitive elements, you can use the following command at the position where you want them to be numbered consecutively: [#i]
Besides that, you also have other numbering options:
- [#i,] - with comma e.g. 1,
2. [#i;] - with semicolon e.g. 1;
3. [#i)] - with parenthesis to e.g. 1)
4. [#i ] - with blank character e.g. “1 ”
Error message
If you try to insert another serial question within a serialized section or serialize a section that already contains a serialized question, you will receive the following error message:
This means that you cannot accidentally create an incorrect structure in the question catalog. It is not possible to insert series questions in serialized elements.
